Rooted in Gratitude: Reflecting on a Year at Ippodaro

November invites us to slow down and notice the blessings we might otherwise rush past. As we reflect on this year at Ippodaro, we think of the people who have filled our chairs, the stories shared, and the ways we have grown together.

Some blessings have been exciting milestones. Others have come quietly through a conversation, an act of kindness, or the encouragement we needed on a difficult day. Through each season, God has given us opportunities to care for one another, and we are grateful.

The Community That Makes Ippodaro Possible

Without you, there would be no Ippodaro Salon. Your continued business, referrals, reviews, and encouragement allow us to keep doing work we love. We appreciate your support, and we appreciate who you are.

Thank you, especially, to the guests who have trusted Jamie and Lulu as they continue growing as stylists. Giving them opportunities to develop their skills helps shape their confidence and their future.

You bring so much more than a hair appointment through our doors. You bring your lives, your experiences, and your trust.

The Moments That Remind Us Why

Some of this year’s most meaningful moments have happened in ordinary conversations.

We have celebrated promotions, weddings, and new babies alongside you. We have also listened as guests shared the loss of a loved one or the uncertainty of losing a job. Being included in those moments is a privilege we hold close.

Watching a growing stylist earn a guest’s trust reminds us why education matters. Seeing someone leave feeling heard reminds us why connection matters. These experiences give meaning to our work as Hair Healers: caring thoughtfully for your hair while making room for the person in the chair.

Planting Seeds of Education, Hope, and Encouragement

This year has reminded us that caring begins with listening. Some guests want conversation. Others need quiet. Some welcome a deeper discussion, while others simply need space to vent.

Meeting someone where they are can change the direction of their day.

We think of this as seed planting: offering education, hope, and encouragement without knowing exactly when those seeds will grow. A kind conversation may become the encouragement someone later shares with another person. A small lesson may help a guest feel more confident caring for their hair.

Like seeds on a farm, these moments need patience and care. Watching them take root is beautiful.

Celebrating the People Behind the Care

Our team’s growth has been both professional and personal.

Lulu celebrated her daughter turning two and has been making time to exercise and care for her health while continuing to grow behind the chair.

Jessica was baptized this year, a meaningful milestone in her faith. Behind the scenes, she has helped build systems and organize training to better support current and future stylists.

Jamie has made wonderful progress in her skills behind the chair. She has also chosen to make exercise part of her journey toward better health.

Shana has been sharing the good news through people’s stories on her podcast, Carried Forward. She has also helped Terri and Jessica design the educational platform, Root of Knowledge.

For me, Terri, becoming an Oway educator has been a special milestone. I am equally grateful for the strong team that has stayed together through the years.

What makes me proudest is how they support and motivate one another. Each person gets to define success for themselves, and watching their growth in humility and service feels like seeing planted seeds flourish.

Growing With Purpose

Looking ahead, we want every guest to leave with a better understanding of their hair and scalp, a manageable home routine, and greater confidence in what suits them.

We will continue sharing education about clean beauty, ingredients, and thoughtful product choices so you can better understand what you use on your hair and body.

A Thanksgiving Blessing

When a day feels hard or plans fall apart, one of my favorite things to do is look up at the sky. Noticing God’s creation helps me pause and remember that beauty is still present.

Whatever season you are facing, may you be gentle with yourself. You are a blessing, and you were created with purpose. If forgiveness is on your heart, may God guide you toward it with grace.

Thank you for growing alongside us. We wish you a peaceful, beautiful Thanksgiving.

As you reflect on your year, what is one person, moment, or lesson you are grateful for, and what seed of hope or encouragement could you plant for someone else?
